An interesting, informative and enjoyable combination offers the best way to learn how mass tourism started in the 1950s. Undoubtedly, this is a very useful book for the younger generation of tourism professionals and travelers alike. As for the contemporaries of the events in question, the book may stir up a lot of their emotions and sweet memories.

The story of mass tourism is one of the most remarkable of the 20th century. The authors briefly cover early tourism (Cook's coach trips to Blackpool, Henry Lunn's elite skiing parties of the 1890s), then tell how it all exploded after World War II. A handful of entrepreneurs used old warplanes to take ration-weary Britons to exotic European beaches, and the package holiday was born.
