(More customer reviews)Very often, histories of individuals tend to jump around in time. Author McMahon maintains an excellent chronological discipline in revealing the life and adventures of Balloonist Crosbie. It is a special surprise to learn McMahon has been able to trace Crosbie to the Western Hemisphere for a view of Crosbie's post aeronaut, post Dublin days. As an airplane pilot, I would have found it interesting to know a bit more about flight conditions, airspeeds, altitudes and temperature changes, but in fairness to the author a.) non-pilot readers might find the data burdensome and b.) the data have no doubt been lost. A fast moving and revealing read about aviation pioneers, and an Irish pioneer in particular, a century and a half before the Wright brothers.
