(More customer reviews)Space flight is an excellent introduction to the subject of orbital mechanics/space science for those of us with limited exposure to high school/junior college physical science. A modest comprehension of precalculus algebra/trigonometry should be more than enough math to carry any reader through the well explained formulas in this well written; if dated (1979), text. At a modest 206 pages (196 pgs of reading), and eight chapters, the time expenditure will prove minimal. The text starts with a brief history of the three major figures; Copernicus, Brahe & Kepler, explaining the important contributions each made, and how they built on their predecessors work. It then explains with simple math formulae and drawings the physics therein elucidated. The final chapter wraps up the with a bit of speculation on the (then) future of space exploration, which I thought amusing and sadly for the NASA space program, telling. I found the time invested worth the effort.
