4. Dare to Go A-Hunting (Moon Singer/Free Traders, Bk. 4)"Moon of Three Rings" and "Exiles of the Stars" have been reprinted recently in a single volume called Moonsinger. The series takes place about midway through the greater story arc of Norton's Forerunner universe. (Click on my name to see a list of about 40 related books.)
The first two books in the series are excellent, told from the point of view of a spaceman named Krip and an alien named Maelen. "Flight in Yiktor" continues their story, but it's told from the perspective of a new character, Farree, a deformed alien who can't remember how he ended up in a slum on a planet that is not his home. Krip and Maelen rescue Farree and take him aboard their starship as they return to Maelen's home planet, Yiktor, with villains in hot pursuit.
This book was not quite as strong as the first two, but I recommend it, because it's an exciting adventure that tells us quite a bit more about Krip, Maelen, and the Forerunner mystery that serves as a backdrop to many of Norton's stories. Farree is an appealing character, although perhaps not as interesting as Krip and Maelen. Farree's story concludes in "Dare to Go A-Hunting."
