(More customer reviews)I have read a great many books on WW2 and only a select few have really fascinated me. This book numbers among those few. Upon first glance through the pages, it seems like simply a doctor's medical journal. But it grows on you as you learn about great stories one would be hard pressed to find anywhere else. The narrative grows from robotic to a very warm and colloquial tone which really gives a sense of personality that many WW2 books lack. The fact of how important the events described are seem to be an after thought to the microcosm that this book describes which is typically only available to a select few. I opted to give it 4 stars instead of 5 because it takes a bit of reading to really get into it. But once you do, you'll be hard pressed to put it down.
